Nonapeptide-1, also called Melitane/Melanostatine, is a propriety peptide that was developed for its antimicrobial activities. Nonapeptide-1 is a biomimetic peptide. It matches well with the MC1 receptor on melanocytes. Therefore, it can be used as a melanocyte-stimulating hormone antagonist to compete with the MC1 receptor to prevent the occurrence of tyrosine.
